Congratulations! You joined the minimalist movement. You created your minimalist wardrobe, and now you are trying to ensure your own personal style does not get lost in a “blah” closet.
You want the simplicity, ease and efficiency of a capsule wardrobe, but, at the same time, you want to keep up with styles and trends. You want to stay away from boring and monotonous.
These tips will help you tailor your capsule wardrobe to your own unique style.
1. Update the pieces in your capsule wardrobe.

About once a month or once a season, add an item or two to your wardrobe that speak to who you are. This season, I added a few animal prints and statement t-shirts. Last year, I added high-waisted dress pants; the year before that – over-sized sweaters and t-shirt dresses. Find pieces you like in this current season, and incorporate a few here and there.
2. Tees are a must.
You need t-shirts. You can use statement t-shirts, camisoles, button-down shirts, fitted shirts, or whatever type of shirt you like best. I love a statement tee. I can mix and match it with dress pants for work or jeans for a casual weekend at home. I can tuck it. I can tie it. I can wear it out. I can wear it cropped. Tees are timeless and can be worn season after season while simultaneously allowing you the ability to express your individuality within your capsule wardrobe.

3. Accessorize.
For those who do not want bold green pants and leopard shirts, you can style your capsule wardrobe using accessories. Necklaces, belts, earrings, and shoes add your own personal flair to any outfit. My personal favorites are large statement earrings, but I have seen women accessorize with small, delicate pieces as well. Many ladies even use handbags to give their outfits that extra needed finish.

4. Outerwear is definitely a thing.
Minimalists debate whether or not outerwear counts towards the total number of pieces in your capsule wardrobe. Regardless of the debate outcome, sweaters, blazers, and coats give your look a peek into your personality. Just like tees, outer wear can easily dress an outfit up or down. A blazer can take casual to business casual or business casual to business professional.
On the other hand, when styling a capsule wardrobe, a jacket/coat can easily destroy the look you were trying to achieve. You want to love everything you have on. The workout jacket from the back seat of your car can ruin your perfectly put together style of the day (unless, of course, “athletic” is the style you were going for which is completely acceptable).

The secret to styling your capsule wardrobe really lies in finding pieces that showcase who you are. I love rompers so people actually think of me and come to show me when they wear rompers. Some people love vintage. Some love classic. Others love prints and patterns. Still others love bold colors. With so much attention to capsule wardrobes and minimalist wardrobes, you can easily search google and Instagram to find women who emanate your style and find inspiration in their looks.

Whatever you decide to purchase and whoever you decide to follow, make sure you stay true to you.
Who are you, and how do you want your wardrobe to represent you?

I love accessorizing with statement jewelry! I don’t know if you saw on my Instagram, but I’m wearing the same black dress every single day for the month of March to fight human trafficking alongside BlackoutTrafficking.org. I’ve had to get really creative in my styling so as not to get bored and cardigans, scarves, and statement jewelry is saving me!!! 🙂

So far so good Beverley. The days have been slower around here. We still have daily school work with the kids. I’ve probably been overworking myself. I need to rest a bit more. How about you?

We are okay. Thank God. We have some cases in the caribbean. I pray that the summer will come quickly to burn this virus away.
