This is not an attack on my school system or any other school system. This is a small example of a systemic issue plaguing the profession. It is a challenge to re-think the way we approach teachers and their time.
We are losing teachers to burnout. In addition, we are not attracting new teachers at a sustainable rate. When that happens, we have to start over…go back to the drawing board. And while you are at that drawing board, make sure that you have both “pinks” and “purples” in the room. Too many pinks and teachers continue to leave the profession. Too many purples and the meeting is unproductive and may not even take place. The world…the profession….the STUDENTS…need both.
