5 Ways to Sassy Your Short Hair

As I embark on month 5 of my big chop, I decided to focus on styling this month.  Short does not always lend itself to tons of “go-to” styles.  My hair is too long to slick down and too short for any type of ponytail.  As such, I have had to develop creative ways to sassy my short hair.

5 Styles for your TWA

1.) TWA (tiny-wittle-afro).  On weekends, I wash and condition with my complimentary Deva Curl’s Melt into Moisture.  I follow-up with the love of people’s Whip It, Bounce Back, castor oil, and a styling gel.  My hair stays hydrated and defined, and I am good for the week.  Let the curls fall where they may.*

Some days we need a change from the monotony. If today is one of those days, I am here to give you just what you need. 5 styles to sassy your short kinky curly coils.

2.) Floral headbands.  I admit.  I am a tad obsessed with this trend perhaps because I hate all things “patterny” when it comes to clothing.  Cue the over the top accessories.  Just when I need to cutsie up my do.  I wear them on two occasions.  (1)  They look great with whatever outfit I have going on that day.  (2)  Wash day is upon me, and I need to redirect attention from the frizz and almost dead wash-and-go.

Side twists are an amazing way to add an extra element to your short sassy style

3.)  Side twists.  I never had the courage to shave the sides of my hair.  Thus, back in my relaxer days, I grew hugely fond of a few twists.  That fondness continues as they still add a little something extra when boredom strikes.

4.)  Non-twist fro-hawk.  This is probably my fave besides the floral headband.  I love a faux hawk.  Something about the edginess calls my name.

Pull the front of your hair back with a twist

5.)  Play around.  You can pull the front back.  You can put a big twist along the edges.  Whatever you do, make sure it reflects who you are as a person.

Do not forget that no matter what style you choose to sassy your short, be sure to keep those curls healthy.  The love of people has an amazing line of products I use when I am not bored for my “90% of the time” look.  (I use them for the other 10% also.)

I have not yet tried bantu knots nor twist outs.  I tend to stick with what I know, and, so far, this is what I know.

  1. I think my go to currently has been to blow dry and flat iron twice a month. Every time I do a twist out it only stays for two days, roller sets take too long, and my hair has two may different curl patterns for the wash n go. Sometimes I flat twist or braid in two French braids but I tend to look so young that sometimes I just stay away from that.

  2. Well mine lasts about 3 weeks when my Stylist or I do it myself. I had a relaxer relaxed and transitioned for about 5 years. I feel like my hair does best when I flat iron twice a month. I don’t put any heat on it in between.

  3. You look classy and smart. I am afraid I already have short hair. I had to cut it when my children were small and after cleaning up the mess and arranging I used to have my shower late and night. I was too tired to dry long hair in the middle of the night and end up sneezing in the night and feeling cold. So I cut is short. Why I used to clear up in the night is, by chance they slept late then I can also sleep a little longer and wake up to a neat house. I didn’t have wake before them and clean up. That made the day much easier. Now I have got used to short hair and besides having to cover up my grey I have to tint regularly. And short hair makes it easier and cheaper Lol 😛
Hope you and your family are well. Just a note to say I will not just like, or comment if its not relevant to me. This is for all the blogs as I tell everyone. So excuse me sometimes I don’t come in and sometimes I may miss some of it if I am in to finishing a long assignment. Much Love and Blessings from me 🙂 ❤

    1. No big deal at all. I am the same way. You can only do what you can do, and you I only read content that appeals to me as well. Have a great day! Enjoy that short hair. I just finished making a to-do list to rearrange my evenings that had kind of fallen to the wayside these past few weeks.
